A major movie project has been announced that aims at accomplishing something that even Hollywood has not done to any remarkable degree; it will be produced and directed by Lena Shockley, an African-American filmmaker based in New York and will feature a cast consisting of Africans and African-Americans with a major portion of the movie to be filmed on location in a number of African cities. VISION AFRICANA is the first media outlet to announce this breaking news about the movie project already being described as unique. Information released to VISION AFRICANA indicates that the movie project was created with the goal of making it possible for African actors and producers to collaborate and work together on a project that will showcase their talent.The production is scheduled to begin in May and various aspects of the production process have already taken place according to the sources close to the producers.

To Lena Shockley, going to Africa AND India to produce a movie in collaboration is nothing new when it comes to working and interacting with Africans and people fro other continents. A television personality, she produces a television program in New York called  Lena Shockley Youthology Hour that features a cross section of people from different ethnic backgrounds, including Africans. She has also been involved in various programs and activities over the years that focused on advocacy for and on behalf of Africans seeking redress for grievances. Lena Shockley has come a long way and attributes her success to hard work, perseverance and honest commitment to causes that benefit others. .

The timing of the movie project couldn’t have been better in terms of the potential impact it will have on the African movie industry. It is occurring at a time when the African movie industry appears to have been hit by a marked decline in film production in recent years. Critics have blamed the decline in the African movie industry on various factors that include slump in sales of movies marketed through traditional sources such as videos and movie theaters. A new movie with a combined cast of Africans and African-Americans will usher in a new dimension altogether show the world that Africans and African-Americans can collaborate and work together and potentially open doors for all involved. SILAS SEALMIKKY, AFRICAN ACTOR, READY TO ROLL

“I want to be part of this movie. I really do, ‘said Silas Sealmikky. He is totally enthused about the movie project and has been signed to play a role when the shooting begins in May. More importantly, he is a Nigerian actor based in Lagos, and looking for a chance to move his stagecraft to another level. He is starring in a movie currently being produced called Target that won an award recently. He sees a lot of potential in the movie project and has committed to worh with the production team in other ways besides acting. He can’t wait, he says to begin working with the American production team. He embraces the notion of a collaboration between Africans and African-Americans in an industry in which African-Americans have made significant contributions as actors, directors and producers.

EXPOSURE TO A GLOBAL AUDIENCE FOR AFRICAN AND AFRICAN AMERICAN ACTORS

While it true that Nigeria and Ghana and other African countries have developed a thriving movie industry that has produced outstanding talent, it is also true that the exposure for the talent and scope of the marketing and tended to be limited to African audiences and African immigrant communities in Europe and America.
